Google Services faced an outage various parts of the world – Explained

Google services was faced an outage for a while including Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Docs on Monday.

Why Google Services stopped working on Monday ?

It was reported that the outage was for 45 minutes across all Google services with users unable to access or login. Users  complained that they were unable to access those services. After the global outage of 45 minute, the services came back online. Google blamed an ‘Internal storage quota issue’, for the global outage.

What the Google spokesperson explained ?

In an official statement, a Google spokesperson said, “Today, at 3:47 AM IST Google experienced an authentication system outage for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal storage of quota issue. Services requiring users to login experienced high error rates during this period. The authentication issue was resolved at 4:32 AM PT. All services are now restored. We apologise to everyone affected, and we will conduct a thorough follow up review to ensure this problem cannot recur in the future.”


When the google services got down, billions of users were impacted across the globe. As Gmail, YouTube have a more than a billion of users on a monthly basis.

The outage impacted users in various parts of the world, including India.

Down-detector reported, there are 85% problems while login, users facing issue, 14% in searching.

Later on, all the problems were resolved by the Google itself.
